Thomas is an insurance manager, board member and angel investor in start-ups. He has many years of experience in the insurance industry, including as Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Governance Officer at Allianz SE and as Chief Operating Officer at UNIQA Insurance Group. From 1992 – 2000 he worked in CEE as Board member and CEO of the Allianz insurance companies in the Czech and Slovak Republic. He is familiar with the insurtech sector as co-founder and CEO of Coya AG (later Luko Insurance AG / LIAG AG) and as an investor and board member in other fintech companies. Thomas holds a degree in psychology from the University of Heidelberg. He teaches at Johannes Kepler University in Linz on the topics of digitalisation and artificial intelligence in the insurance industry. Thomas is editor of the book “Artificial Intelligence in the Insurance Industry”, published 2026 at Verlag Österreich.
